Alexandra Squire is a fine artist who specializes in contemporary abstract art forms. She has been interested and passionate about art since her childhood days. It is not completely new as the previous generation in her family were also involved in the world of art. This includes her grandmother and aunt. She took art classes and simultaneously pursued an MBA.
The medium of her art is acrylics and resin. Both these mediums enable her to experiment with the depth and texture of her artwork. “I love what I can capture with paint. Blending colours is my favourite part. I love the idea that I can take a blank canvas and use my imagination to turn it into anything. It will always fascinate me that from three primary colours we can create infinitely more”, said Alexandra.
Alexandra’s journey in this field has not been an easy one. She had to face a lot of difficulties but it made her what she is today. Her artwork process is very similar to the trial-and-error method. Thus, it is time-consuming and requires a lot of patience. After trying digitally on her iPad, she does the artwork on a wood piece which requires quite some time to dry up. Moreover, working with resin has its own set of challenges. For instance, after applying resin, each layer takes a lot of time to dry up. “Creating art isn’t easy. There are days I want to throw paintings out the windows and there have definitely been times it would be easier to walk away, but I knew that wasn’t my path. Every day I give thanks that I am able to make a living doing what I love. I believe that when you are grateful for what you have, you make space for even more in your life.”
Alexandra was very brave when she chose a completely separate path while being a full-time mother to two kids. This is because she believes that mothers are so busy taking care of their children that they forget to live their own life to the fullest. “We have the ability to create life. I think this also means we have the responsibility to appreciate the one we are given and live it to the fullest”, added Alexandra. Her journey is truly inspiring!
Alexandra still has a lot more talent to express and many parts of her individuality she wishes to explore through art. If you want to know more about Alexandra Squire and her fine artwork you can check out her social media handle (link down below)
