Merian Odesho is the Founder, CEO and the Cosmetic Formulator of the Bounce Curl. Bounce Curl is one of the top women-owned businesses in the middle eastern region.
Merian has a personal experience with her own curly hair and she has faced the difficulties that most of the women would face having curly hairs. Merian grew up being taught how to take care of her curls by her mother and grandmother. These two great ladies are Merian’s inspiration and mentors who since childhood thought her about natural products, which they used to look after hair and hair problems and growth of their hair. According to Merian, she remembers how she would scrape out aloe vera and mixed it with different natural products not forgetting the black seed oil (Nigella Sativa), which is one of the secret oils of the middle eastern and has been used for hair nourishment since centuries and flax seeds too.
But as Merian grew up she was frustrated with all the hair products she used were useless and had bad results on her hair. Merian studied science and obtained her bachelor’s degree in science. She initially wanted to become a Dentist but while working in the chemistry lab with chemicals like mixing acids, base, equalising, balancing and analysing them, she was also reading IR spectrums and here she created some great formulas for cosmetic beauty products and hair care products, testing them on herself and her best friend and found out that these had great results and it was safe to use them.
This is the birthplace of Bounce Curl. In the year 2015 November the first product of Bounce Curl was the Bounce Curl Light Hold Gel, which is still the most popular product of Bounce Curl and is in demand all over and satisfying more than millions of users. After a very good response by their first product, a line of shampoos and conditioners were released for specific hair types and hair problems and more styling products have been added to the list of natural products.
Looking back at her journey, she recalls, “I started working in the cosmetic industry in 2010. At that time, cosmetic chemists were old school and still using bad preservatives and cancer-causing ingredients in their formulas. I was already working as a micro-influencer on social media; I connected with potential consumers online and knew what they wanted. The main concept is not too surprising – create products that do not have cancer-causing ingredients in them! Also, create products that do not have extremely toxic ingredients in them either.
